Kevin

Kevin Barnett has many years of experience as a performing pianist/keyboardist, recording engineer/producer, teacher and composer, and is the owner of Lovin’Dog Music in Eagle River, Alaska.  His debut CD of original compositions, Alpenglow, was released in March 2010, and all the tunes are currently under contract with Editor’s Choice Music Library.  The tune Lead Dog was chosen as the theme for Alaska Public Radio’s weekly call-in show about state and community issues, Hometown Alaska.  His second CD is currently in production.

Kevin’s playing and compositions have appeared in locally produced commercials and documentaries, including Mirror Studio’s Fly Right Films. He orchestrated the theme, The Bird, by Kathleen Bielawski, for Alaska:  The Land Beyond, produced by Wild Berry Productions. He is also actively involved in numerous CDs recorded at Mirror Studios in Anchorage, including Lora Mahaffey’s At Last (keyboards, arranger, co-engineer), Cat Coward’s On a Limb (co-writer, keyboards, arranger, co-engineer), Peggy Monaghan’s Lullaby, and the Derry Aire’s Frozen Assets.  Other projects that Kevin has worked on, include the Rogues and Wenches CDs, Spirits, and Ye Olde Screw 'n' Shackle, Dan McElrath & Katie Strock’s DanKa, and Voni K’s So Nice.

Kevin has played with such greats as BJ Leiderman, Dan Balmer, Barbara London, Del Shannon, Lew Soloff, Bill Watrous, Carl Fontana, Ed Shaughnessy, Rob McConnell, James Moody, Don Menza, Norman Luboff, Stan Mark and many others.  

Kevin performed with Air Force Bands for 21 years, and other bands in the Mid-West for several years before that.  He holds a BA in Communications and the Arts (Music – Applied Piano) from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, and a Master Certificate in Music Production and Technology from Berklee College of Music.  He has an extensive background in electronic music, recording, writing/arranging, composition, orchestration, film scoring, classical/liturgical organ and as musical director in various situations.  Kevin currently performs with the Kevin Barnett Quartet for Arctic Siren Productions’ Second Friday Cabarets, his Jazz group the Lovin’Dog Kennel Club, with Lee Pulliam’s AKSAXO Jazz, with the rock group Chill Factor, and with other local artists.  He is the Music Coordinator, pianist and organist for Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Anchorage, Alaska.  He also works at Mirror Studios Anchorage Alaska as a session player, composer and recording engineer.  Kevin lives in Eagle River, Alaska, with his wife, Regina, and huskyluki, Kaya.
